Construction is scheduled to occur from 7:00 am–5:00 pm, with the possibility of some weekend work required.

BUSINESS IMPACTS

Access to select businesses will be temporarily impacted during milling and paving portions of the project. Advanced notice will be provided.

The City of Kamloops has contracted Extreme Excavating Ltd. to complete removal of an abandoned intake structure and underground chamber within the property located at 385 Schubert Drive and in the North Thompson River. This will include the demolition and removal of the abandoned concrete structure and placement of fill material. This project will begin on April 1, 2024.

HOURS OF WORK

Construction is scheduled to occur Monday through Friday, 7:00 am–7:00 pm, with possible evening and weekend work required.

RESIDENT IMPACTS

During construction, heavy equipment and vibratory equipment will be in use; therefore, any fragile items should be packaged or protected from damage due to vibration. There will also be noise disruption due to equipment on site.

TRAFFIC IMPACTS

As part of this project, Schubert Drive and the Rivers Trail will be fully closed between Spruce Avenue and Juniper Avenue. Motorists, pedestrians, and cyclists are asked to follow signage in the area for detour and site information.

Truck traffic to and from the site will be heaviest towards the latter stages of the project when material is leaving the site.

The sidewalk directly in front of the Northbridge site will be closed to pedestrians.

Late March–September 2023

PROJECT SCOPE

The City of Kamloops has contracted Clearview Demolition Ltd. to tear down the former Northbridge Hotel at 377 Tranquille Road. We are advising residents, businesses and commuters that this work is scheduled to begin in late March and will encompass the following scope of work:

RESIDENT AND BUSINESS IMPACTS

Fences are expected to go up around the property in late March. For the first four months all work will be contained on site. Security will remain on premises to ensure no one enters the building during the abatement process. This building contains hazardous materials, such as asbestos, and while this work poses no health risk to anyone outside the building, proper precautions need to be taken inside. The contractor will erect fences to delineate their work zone and is important that the public respects that boundary.

Throughout the construction period, vibratory compaction equipment may be in use; therefore, any fragile items should be packaged or protected from damage due to vibration. There may also be noise disruption due to equipment on site.

Garbage collection will not be affected

HOURS OF WORK
