The North Shore Zoning Code was prepared for public review and input in January 2009. The new zoning by-law was specifically created for the North Shore to coincide with the new policies and direction identified in the North Shore Neighbourhood Plan and ensures development regulations are in keeping with the goals of the Plan.

The North Shore Zoning Code is intended to also act as a test case to eventually transform the zoning for the rest of the city, permitting the same degree of flexibility and reliance on performance-based regulations rather than the current rigid system used by municipalities across British Columbia.
