About Us

Our mission is to promote proactive crime prevention initiatives and programs to keep Kamloops a safe community.

Who we are

City of Kamloops Community Safety (formerly known as Community Policing) is comprised of two Crime Prevention Coordinators and a large number of volunteers. We are dedicated to promoting safety within our community through developing various City initiatives and participating in RCMP crime prevention programs.

What we do

We work in conjunction with Kamloops City RCMP.

We network with community agencies and interest groups.

We develop and deliver programs that provide crime prevention education and awareness to the general public.

With a goal of community safety in mind, we coordinate response to community concerns, through a network of community partners.

Community Safety provides a variety of resources through volunteer involvement and educational materials.

How we do it

Our safety messaging and crime prevention programs and initiatives are delivered through the following:

• volunteer supports
• targeted campaigns
• community events
• awareness through a variety of media sources
• ongoing programs
• community outreach

Why we do it

We care about where we live. Promoting involvement in personal safety and crime prevention strategies enhances livability in Kamloops. Education and awareness empowers our community to take appropriate action and reduce opportunities for criminal activity.
