Smoking in Green Spaces is Prohibited

Due the Extreme weather conditions and scattered provincial resources battling fires throughout BC, Fire Chief Neill Moroz deemed it necessary to order a complete fire ban and prohibiting smoking, including but not limited to, all natural parks within the City of Kamloops. This is neccessary to reduce the risk of human caused wildfires in our community. "No Smoking" signs have been placed at all natural park entrances.

Not sure where our natural park areas are? See our Smoking Ban Map.
Anyone found in violation of the "Order of the Fire Chief" may expect a fine of $200 under
Parks Regulation By-Law 35-66 Sec 6(j)(v)
- It shall be unlawful and an offence against this by-law for any person to:
Use firearms or any combustible material in any park or public lands in the City.
In 2003 we were all a witness to the devastation that a carelessly discarded cigarette caused. Lets not have this happen again.
