Community Network Supports Economic Development
An Investment in Kamloops Future
The City of Kamloops has decided not to pursue an extension of the Kamloops Community Network (KCN) in the foreseeable future. However, there are existing fibre strands constructed as part of KCN Phase I which potentially could provide economic development benefits to the community, and advantages to local businesses.
Connection to the BCNet Kamloops Transit Exchange located at City Hall can provide business with access to competitive carriers for network services such as internet access, telephony, and private wide area networks, and to the Canairie advanced research and education networks.
City Council has agreed to make these strands available through a new application process.
