Freedom of the City

The Freedom of the City is the highest honour that can be bestowed by the City of Kamloops and is the result of a unanimous decision of the members of City Council.

Freedom of the City may be conferred on a distinguished person or unit of the armed forces of Canada or another nation and is regulated by section 158 of the Community Charter, providing certain privileges to the person or commander of the armed forces unit.

"Freedom of the City" is a designation that is awarded infrequently and only with the unanimous support of the Mayor and Council Members.
