Canada Games Aquatic Centre Maintenance Shutdown

Kamloops, B.C. - The Canada Games Aquatic Centre will be closed to the public from Monday, August 24th to Monday, September 7th for its annual maintenance shutdown.

In addition to extensive cleaning of facility and servicing of mechanical systems, a new $150,000 high efficiency two-stage boiler system will be installed that will reduce overall heating costs by $32,000 per year. As a result, the overall cost-savings to the City will be $400,000 over the 15 year life of the boiler. Other upgrades include a new public address system (replacing the original from 1993) and steam room re-tiling.

To minimize the impact of the closure on our valued customers, the City is piloting a 15-day maintenance shutdown. This decreases past shutdowns by 1 week and will be accomplished through the efficiencies of creative planning and scheduling.

The Canada Games Aquatic Centre will re-open on Tuesday, September 8th. The City of Kamloops appreciates the public's cooperation and understanding.
