The City is thrilled to announce the successful launch of our first hockey program for youth with special needs. The program is open to boys and girls ages 5-16 years old with developmental delays such as Autism or Down's Syndrome. The goal of this program is to offer a safe environment for these youth to learn to skate, and play hockey with their peers. So far 17 youth have registered with spots still available!

Qualified staff will lead the practices and the focus will be on fun!! All of our instructors have their first aid, and our lead instructors have coached hockey in the past and have experience working with youth with special needs. There are full equipment subsidies available and parents will be sent a letter containing more information upon registration.

About the Program
This program is offered for boys and girls, 5-16 years old, who have developmental delays. The only requirement is that they must be able to stand on skates. The following equipment is required:

• hockey helmet with full face mask
• neck guard
• hockey gloves
• skates
• hockey stick

Siblings are encouraged to participate as well, regular registration fees apply. Parents are also welcome on the ice.
