Safer City
Enforcement
The goal is to raise awareness regarding the impact of poor driving behaviors and the toll those actions take on our community. By publicizing goals and making consequences of unacceptable actions known, we hope to give out fewer tickets and achieve permanent road user behavioral changes. Safer City combines enforcement measures with education campaigns and engineering designs to raise the understanding of road safety and its devastating effects when it is ignored.
- Aggressive driving includes dangerous behaviors such as running red lights, tailgating and speeding. Aggressive attitudes combined with risky driving behaviors are not defensive driving techniques.
- Impaired driving is driving under the influence of any substance that has impairing effects on driving-related skills. Impaired driving also includes driving while drowsy or fatigued, as this too impairs ones driving ability.
- Seat belts are the single most important protective mechanism available to adult vehicle occupants, and if used correctly, can reduce the likelihood of death in a motor vehicle crash by 50%.
