Seat Belts
- The fine for not wearing a seatbelt is $138;
- When wearing a seatbelt, you're twice as likely to survive a crash;
- An unbuckled occupant will strike other occupants, the interior of the vehicle or be ejected with the weight of a 3 1/2 ton truck;
- In the Southern Interior, 85% of drivers buckle up. In BC, 92% of drivers buckle up. Back seat belt wearing rate is 49%;
- Males aged 19-25 have the lowest seat belt wearing rates.
