Student Crossing Guard Pilot Program
During the Safer School Travel process, many schools identify traffic congestion during student drop off and pick up times as their #1 traffic safety concern. A Student Crossing Guard program can help alleviate this concern.

In addition to increasing traffic safety and reducing congestion in the immediate area of the school, an effective Student Crossing Guard program can provide tremendous benefits to each of the student patrollers including responsibility, team work, leadership, school pride, and the feeling that they are helping to make a difference in the safety of their fellow students.
In the fall of 2007, six Kamloops Safer School Travel schools will be piloting a Student Crossing Guard program developed by Safer City and RCMP staff. Since then a number of other schools have come on board.
