Farmers' Markets and Local Food Production

Kamloops' food distribution and retail sector includes farmer’s markets, grocery stores, and other local vendors who offer locally produced food. The local food economy in Kamloops is estimated to be worth more than $248 million per year, according to 2011 Statistics Canada census data.

In addition to the work of individual farmers and gardeners, local not-for-profit organizations, developers, and landscape companies play a role in promoting urban food production. Local food production occurs in community gardens, "public produce" gardens, edible landscaping features, private gardens, and fruit trees throughout the City.

The Kamloops Regional Farmers' Market runs Wednesdays and Saturdays from April to October and indoors at St. Andrew's on the Square from through November and December.
