Bicycle Master Plan
Cycling is an important component of a city's transportation system. Cycling
facilities and programs can help reduce automobile dependency and consequently
reduce traffic congestion and vehicle emissions.
A key objective of the TravelSmart Plan was to develop a more multimodal transportation system that would encourage more people to cycle for work and other purposes. A follow-up to TravelSmart was the preparation of a Bicycle Master Plan, which focused on the planning/development/implementation of a safer bicycle network to encourage more cycling and thus help achieve a key TravelSmart objective.
