Transportation Plans
The transportation planning related activities include both project-specific and comprehensive planning. Comprehensive planning projects include the update of City's transportation model, which will be used to assess future transportation needs, planning and implementation of Transportation Demand Management measures and technical support for other departments.

Current planning activities include reviewing transportation and traffic impacts due to development projects, addressing neighborhood traffic issues, coordinating traffic demand management activities, and reviewing and analyzing other traffic-related capital improvement projects.

Strategic Initiatives
Transportation planning activities focus on long term strategic initiatives and current planning needs. Strategic initiatives include:
Updating the City's transportation model to help determine future transportation facility needs;

Developing guidelines for improving road safety and encouraging multimodal transportation;

Updating the City's Official Transit Plan In addition to these long range initiatives, City of Kamloops transportation planning activities also focus heavily on current planning issues including:

Reviewing transportation and traffic impacts associated with land developments;

Addressing neighborhood traffic issues through traffic calming strategies;

Implementing traffic demand management programs including ride-matching services and facilities for non-motorized modes of travel such as bicycles and walking;

Reviewing and analyzing other traffic-related capital improvement projects

The City is in the process of completing a number of transportation policy reports to guide the development of a safer, multimodal transportation system for the community.
