Winterlights

A Proclamation

To all to whom these presents shall come - Greeting

WHEREAS the WinterLights Celebrations - the winter edition of Communities in Bloom - is a national program focused on community efforts that sustain and promote environmental, visual, economic and programming leadership throughout the winter months, with special attention to community involvement and outreach. The program encourages all Canadians to join in their local community events and activities, and to experience the beauty and thrill of winter; and

WHEREAS the Kamloops WinterLights Committee invites Kamloops citizens to 'Get into the Spirit' of WinterLights as we 'Shoot for the Stars' by participating in festive season celebrations, supporting goodwill programs, responsibly illuminating their home or business and by enjoying the winter pleasures Kamloops has to offer; and

WHEREAS the week of November 22 to 28 features numerous events kicking off the festive season and WinterLights program;

NOW KNOW YE THAT WE do by presents proclaim and declare the week of November 22 to 28 as

"WINTER SPIRIT WEEK"

in our City of Kamloops, in Our Province of British Columbia, this 17th day of November, two thousand and nine.

WinterLights Judges Tour

Dec 9th - 3:50pm
Kamloops Airport
Greet the WinterLights judges Karen Neerhof and Claude Lechance as they arrive in Kamloops on Air Canada flight #AC8194 from Vancouver.

Dec 10th - 5:30 - 6:30pm
Spirit Square, North Kamloops
Spirit Square Light up Ceremony
Meet the Judges, Mayor to speak (short remarks on Winter Spirit in Kamloops)Tree lighting

Dec 11th - 12:00 - 1:30pm
St. Andrews on the Square - inside Church
Lunch with the judges, goodwill organizations and guests. Speakers from some organizations, Mayor (short remarks on Goodwill within Kamloops)

Dec 11th - 6:00pm to Approx 8:00pm
Judges Tour final event
WildLights opening at the Wildlife Park
Official invitation will be sent from the Park but as this is the Judges tour wrap up event we have included it in this list as well.

We hope you can all attend these events to help showcase Kamloops to the judges! Please RSVP through Kristy Morris.
